Ingredients:
- 260g Butter
- 200g Dark Muscovado Sugar
- 12 tablespoons Golden Syrup
- 700g Plain Flour
- 2 teaspoons Bicarbonate Soda
- 4 heaped teapoons Ground Ginger
- a pinch of Mixed Spice
- a pinch of Cinnamon
- a tube of ready made Icing for piping
- optional: you can make your own Icing and can add Chocolate Drops/Jellies
- Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan. Stirring occasionally. Once the sugar has melted remove from the heat.
- Sift the flour and other dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl then add the melted mixture, stirring together to make a dough. Cover the bowl with cling film and chill in the fridge for about half an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 170C/gas mark 3. Once the dough is ready, roll out on a lightly floured surface to about a 5mm thickness and cut out your gingerbread men using a cutter. Place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for around 12-14 minutes until light golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and when they have cooled and hardened you can add their eyes and buttons and maybe a cheeky grin with the glaze icing
